Easter services aboard Missouri
Easter sunrise services are scheduled aboard the Battleship Missouri for active-duty and retired military and families.
The inter-denominational service, scheduled for 6:30 a.m. April 12, is also open to Department of Defense civilian employees and sponsored guests.
It will also include music from the Pacific Fleet Band and free continental breakfast.
Parking is available near Fox 5 pier, Ford Island.

SOTO MISSION WILL MARK BUDDHA DAY
Buddha Day services (Hanamatsuri), marking the birth of Prince Siddhartha Gautama more than 2,500 years ago, will be offered by the Hawaii Buddhist Council, at 9 a.m. April 5 at Soto Mission of Hawaii in Nu'uanu.
Guest speaker will be the Rev. Jiko Nakade, of the Kona Daifukuji Soto Mission. Also featured will be a taiko performance and demonstration.

SACRED OILS TO BE BLESSED IN PARISHES
Sacred oils, used yearlong in individual Catholic parishes in administering holy sacraments — including anointing of the sick, baptism, confirmation and ordination — will be blessed in various parishes statewide.
The public is invited to the O'ahu Chrism Mass at 7 p.m. April 2 at the Catholic Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa. For information, call 396-0551.
CATHEDRAL OFFERING 'TEA AND LABYRINTH'
"Tea and Labyrinth," an opportunity to take a break, sip green tea, "breathe peace," and walk the labyrinth at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Andrew, will be offered from 4 to 5:30 p.m. April 3 at the church.
Found in churches and cathedrals since the fourth century, the simple act of walking a labyrinth has been seen as a way to encourage peacefulness, mediation and prayer.

SISTERHOOD TO HOST PASSOVER SEDER
The Sisterhood of Temple Emanu-El will host the congregation's annual Second Night Passover Seder at 5:30 p.m. April 9 at Hale Koa Hotel.
Open to all, the event includes a kosher menu, with a vegetarian option.
Presiding will be Rabbi Peter Schaktman and cantatorial soloist, Ken Aronowitz.
The Passover seder commemorates the Israelites' escape from Egypt in the time of Moses and, by extension, the concept of freedom for all ages.
Tickets are $75 adults, $55 children, with discounts for Temple Emanu-El members of $55 for adults, $45 for children. Active military and family members pay $45.

CHURCH SPONSORS 'EGGSTRAVAGANZA'
More than 10,000 eggs will be hidden as part of the public "Eggstravaganza Family Fair and Easter Egg Hunt," sponsored Easter weekend by First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu in Kane'ohe.
The free event, scheduled 9 a.m. to noon April 11 on the Ko'olau Golf Range, will also feature live music, food, inflatables, face painting and balloon art.
