University of Hawaii senior Annett Wichmann was named Western Athletic Conference's Track and Field Athlete of the week.
Wichmann earned the field award after her record-breaking performance at the Stanford Invitational last week.
The senior from Jena, Germany, earned an NCAA regional qualifying mark in javelin with a throw of 163 feet, 11 inches. The mark was a personal best and UH record, breaking the previous mark, which she held, by more than six feet. It is the fourth-best throw in the nation and the second straight year Wichmann has attained regional standard in javelin.
