Beach environmental series kicks off

Marine life in the Islands and the impacts of plastic on our environment are among the topics to be addressed at the Beach Environmental Awareness Campaign Hawai'i's "Plastic and Hawai'i's Marine Life" series. The free events, featuring films and lectures, will be at 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday through April 29 at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa Architecture Auditorium; the April 8 lecture will be at the UH-Manoa Art Auditorium.
Schedule: "Hawai'i — Message in the Waves" film on Wednesday; Regina Woodrom Rudrud on "Conflict, Collision and Confrontation: Sea Turtle Biology and Incompatibility with Marine Debris" on April 8; "Synthetic Sea Story" film on April 15; Suzanne Frazer on "Plastic: Impacts on our Health, Marine Life and the Environment" on April 22; and David Hyrenbach on "Albatross as Indicators of Plastic Pollution in the Marine Environment" on April 29.
