In recognition of Mother's Day, the Black Pearl Gallery is offering a free pearl necklace to local residents who have lost their jobs or homes in the past 12 months.
The offer was inspired by a similar promotion done by Fox Jewelers in Ventura, Calif., according to a news release from the Black Pearl Gallery.
The necklace, valued at $59, contains a freshwater pearl set in silver. The necklace "is a symbol for love, strength and courage — the perfect metaphor to turn challenge into opportunity," the release said.
To claim a necklace, individuals must be able to show proof of their loss, such as a letter, and proper identification. One necklace will be given per person while supplies last through Mother's Day. The offer is available at the store's locations in Aloha Tower and Ward Centre.
