Tennis: Damir Dokic detained for 30 days due to threats

Associated Press

BELGRADE, Serbia — The Serbian father of Australian tennis player Jelena Dokic has been ordered to remain in jail for 30 days pending an investigation into his alleged threats against the Australian ambassador in Belgrade.

Damir Dokic was detained in his home in northern Serbia on Wednesday. Police said they found seven hunting rifles, a gun and two bombs during the search of his house.

Serbian newspaper Blic reports Thursday that police have confiscated the weapons and that Dokic could face charges of "endangering security (of the ambassador) and unlawful possession of weapons."

The same daily quoted Damir Dokic on Wednesday as saying he had called the Australian embassy and threatened to "fire a rocket" at the car belonging to the ambassador.
