Fire in hotel's laundry room forces guests to evacuate
Firefighters responded to a fire in the basement laundry room of the Queen Kapi'olani Hotel on Kapahulu Avenue last night.
Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig said the fire, reported at 8:11 p.m. and brought under control by 8:30 p.m., was contained to a drier in the facility.
Hotel occupants evacuated their rooms until the fire was under control. Seelig said a few people complained of respiratory problems from smoke but no serious injuries were reported.
