Man's body found in ocean after report of call for help
Fire rescue personnel last night recovered the body of a man off Kahala Beach.
Authorities were called after someone heard a man yelling for help in the water about 9 p.m., said Fire Department spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig.
Firefighters from shore could not see anyone. The department's helicopter was launched and spotted a man about 150 yards offshore about 9:30 p.m., Seelig said.
A rescue diver was lowered in a basket and recovered the body of the man, who was wearing swim trunks. Firefighters tried to revive the man on shore but he had no obvious signs of life, Seelig said. The man was turned over to emergency medical personnel.
