A man remained in critical but stable condition this morning at The Queen’s Medical Center after being shot last night in Moiliili, police said.
No suspect had been arrested as of 11 a.m. today.
According to a brief synopsis of the incident that was filed this morning, police are pursuing investigations on possible charges of attempted murder, first-degree robbery and kidnapping in the case.
The victim, a 24-year-old man, told investigators another man entered his car about 8:15 p.m. in the University Avenue area, pointed a handgun at him and told him to drive.
Moments later the man fired off several shots, two of which struck the victim, police said.
Police were told that the gunman got out of the car at one point and ran away and that the wounded driver headed in the opposite direction before stopping several blocks away to call for help.
Emergency medical personnel were called to Fern and Hausten streets about 8:40 p.m., said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Department of Emergency Services.
There they treated a man who appeared to be in his 20s. He had what appeared to be at least one gunshot wound, Cheplic said.
The man was taken in serious condition to a hospital, where his condition worsened to critical, Cheplic said.
