VW scraps talks with Porsche

BERLIN — Volkswagen AG said yesterday it was indefinitely postponing talks over a planned integration with Porsche SE, but the sports car maker insisted only the next round, a working group meeting today, had been canceled.
VW Chairman Ferdinand Piech and the Porsche family — controlling shareholders of Porsche Automobil Holding SE — earlier this month had agreed on a plan to integrate the Porsche car-manufacturing group with Volkswagen, with the independence of the 10 brands of both companies being ensured.
DOCUMENT SITE TO UNVEIL WEB STORE
SAN FRANCISCO — The online document-sharing service Scribd is debuting an Internet store today that will offer new sales opportunities for authors and publishers.
Scribd's commercial channel marks the first time the two-year-old service has charged for the material posted on its Web site. It claims to have amassed 35 billion words in an eclectic mix of books, essays, PowerPoint presentations, legal briefs and other documents.
BRITISH AIR TARGETING LAS VEGAS
LAS VEGAS — British Airways has announced it is adding a new nonstop daily flight between McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas and London's Heathrow Airport. The service will begin in late October.
Airline officials say they consider Las Vegas a growth opportunity for the company, despite the slowdown in the tourism industry. British Airways flies daily flights to the U.K. from 18 other U.S. cities.
