Honolulu's Michelle Wie shot a 1-over-par 73 yesterday to finish tied for third, six shots behind winner Ji Young Oh at the Sybase Classic, earning her biggest paycheck of the LPGA season.

Wie was at 8-under 280, tied with Paula Creamer, who also shot a 73 at Upper Montclair Country Club in Clifton, N.J. Oh shot a 70 to finish at 14-under 274, four shots ahead of Suzann Pettersen, who shot a 74.

Wie earned $118,824, bringing her season total to $290,653 (15th on the money list) in six tournaments.

Wie had chance to get going early but she missed an 8-foot birdie putt on the first hole. She had a couple of good par-saving putts on the next three holes, but her end started when she dumped a shot from 165 yards into the pond in front of No. 5.

"I putted well today and drove the ball well," Wie said. "If I could have hit a couple of irons better then it would have been a different story."

This was Wie's 53rd LPGA tournament without a victory, and her second-best finish this season. She was runner-up at the SBS Open at Turtle Bay in February.

Oh, a 20-year-old South Korean, won her second LPGA title and earning $300,000.

"I really wanted it badly and there was no way I wasn't going to get it," Oh said.

Pettersen was tied for the lead after 11 holes but bogeyed the 12th hole after a bad drive and then handed Oh the title with bogeys on the final two holes.

Oh put an exclamation point on the win with a 7-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole.

JOHNSON REPEATS AS TEXAS OPEN CHAMP

Zach Johnson successfully defended his Texas Open title, beating James Driscoll with a 12-foot birdie on the first hole of a playoff.

Seven months after winning for the first time at La Cantera Golf Club in San Antonio, Johnson shot an even-par 70 to match Driscoll (62) at 15-under 265.

Johnson, the FedEx Cup points leader, also won the Sony Open in Hawai'i in January. The 2007 Masters champion earned $1,098,000 for his sixth career PGA Tour victory.

"I feel very lucky," Johnson said.

Bill Haas (65) and Paul Goydos (69) tied for third, a stroke back.
