'Aina Gourmet Market in Ka'anapali is celebrating its grand opening May 31 with live entertainment, giveaways, kama'aina discounts and family activities.
The store, in the Honua Kai Resort & Spa, is based on the "100-mile market" concept, meaning many of the products sold in the Maui store come from within a 100-mile radius.
Festivities will run from noon to 4 p.m. and will include lei-stringing, face-painting, coffee roasting demos, complimentary menu sampling, free popcorn and a chocolate fountain. A 10 percent kama'aina discount will be honored all day.
'Aina Gourmet Market is part of a collection of Maui establishments led by chef James McDonald, Louis Coulombe and Stephan Bel-Robert.
FITCH RATES BANK OF HAWAII AT 'A-'
Fitch Ratings has affirmed the credit ratings of Bank of Hawaii Corp. and its Bank of Hawaii subsidiary.
Fitch said the ratings, which include an "A-" issuer default rating, reflect the company's "strong local franchise and solid credit fundamentals."
"The stable rating outlook considers that the company's conservative risk management is expected to limit the level of credit problems arising from its geographically concentrated loan portfolio in the face of the slowing Hawai'i economy, which has lagged the general recession on the U.S. Mainland and globally," Fitch said in a news release.
