Firefighters find hiker who got lost on Pu'u 'O'o trail
Big Island firefighters located a hiker who got lost on Pu'u 'O'o trail Monday night due to bad weather, the Hawai'i County Fire Department said.
A 33-year-old woman became lost off Powerline Road, which is off the 22- and 23-mile marker of Saddle Road. A ground search by the Hawai'i County Fire Department of Pohakuloa began about 5 p.m. Monday.
The hiker was located shortly after 9 p.m. through use of GPS coordinates obtained via the hiker's cell phone.
The woman was not injured and was escorted out of the trail safely, the fire department said.
