EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Brad Childress says Brett Favre “was worth a conversation,” but the Vikings coach insists the veteran quarterback remains retired — as far as he knows.
Childress addressed the subject Thursday after the team practiced at Winter Park. He says the last time he spoke with Favre was on the phone several weeks ago.
Asked if he could completely rule out the possibility signing the 39-year-old Favre, Childress declined. But the coach says he’s not currently “entertaining” the idea and is more focused on the players currently on the team.
Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels are competing for the starting quarterback’s job, provided Favre stays retired.
