Aloha Harvest receives $40,000 grant from First Hawaiian foundation

Aloha Harvest, a nonprofit organization that gathers quality donated food and delivers it to social service agencies feeding the hungry in Hawaii, was recently awarded a $40,000 grant from the First Hawaiian Bank Foundation.

“We are truly grateful for First Hawaiian Bank Foundation’s partnership with Aloha Harvest. This grant will enable us to sustain our operational objectives and further our efforts to feed Hawaii’s hungry, needy and homeless,” said Kuulei Williams, co-Executive Director of Aloha Harvest. “Given the tough economy, our services are needed now more than ever and this grant will help to ensure that fewer people go hungry.”
The $40,000 grant will be made over the next two years in two installments of $20,000.
Since its inception in 1999, Aloha Harvest has delivered over 4.5 million pounds of food — free of charge — to 121 agencies.
Aloha Harvest accepts food donations from restaurants, catering services, cafeterias, catered parties and canned food drives. Donations are picked-up, free of charge and delivered directly to social service agencies on Oahu.
If you would like to make a food or financial donation, call Aloha Harvest at 808-537-6945 or visit www.alohaharvest.org. All donations to Aloha Harvest are tax deductible.
