The all clear was sounded at 5:20 p.m. at Campbell Industrial Park following a chlorine gas leak that led to the park’s closure and the evacuation of some area businesses and residences.

Capt. Earle Kealoha, spokesman for the Honolulu Fire Deaprtment, said all chlorine was removed from the suspect tank at Brewer Chemical — now known as BEI Hawaii — and neutralized.
According to an earlier news release from John Cummings of the city's Department of Emergency Management, the company had received a damaged transport container this afternoon that leaked an undetermined amount of chlorine gas before being contained.
In a separate e-mail, Kealoha said the leak resulted from a hydrochloric acid spill on a 140-gallon chlorine cylinder.
Kealoha said the acid had caused a bulge that could compromise the tank’s integrity and result in more gas being released.
As a precaution, fire and police units notifyed businesses and residences within a 1.7-mile radius of the BEI plant at 91-0150 Kaomi Loop to evacuate.
