Advertiser Staff

About 50 stand-up paddlers will pick up trash from Maunalua Bay in Hawaiçi Kai to Waiçalae Beach Park, about four miles today at noon from to 3 p.m.

The goal is to build awareness of the caring for the bay. Trash enters the bay from a variety of sources, mostly storm drains send sediment and pollutants to the ocean, especially during heavy rainfall.
The event is sponsored by Malama Maunalua, grassroots group that wants to empower the community to restore the bay to its original health. For more information go to www.malamamaunalua.org.
