Jordan Ribera hit a two-out, two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning — his second go-ahead blast of the day — to lead Fresno State over New Mexico State, 5-3, today win capture its fourth consecutive Western Athletic Conference baseball title at Les Murakami Stadium.

Ribera’s two-run homer in the top of the ninth in the earlier game won by FSU, 9-7, forced a winner-take-all game.
Matt Morse (4-2) pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief for the Bulldogs (32-28), who won four consecutive elimination games to take the tournament championship and secure the NCAA tournament berth that comes with it.
Tyler Sturdevant (7-6) came in to start the eighth for starter Daniel Simon with the game tied at 3 for the Aggies (44-17). But Danny Muno led off with a single, but was forced at second when Dusty Robinson reached on a fielder’s choice bunt. After Tommy Mendonca grounded out to first to send Robinson to second, Ribera ripped a 2-1 pitch over the center field wall.
Ironically, Ribera, who entered the tournament with a .113 batting average, started for three-year starter Alan Ahmady, who was suspended from the team before the tournament.
The Bulldogs struck first in the bottom of the second inning. Kenny Wise singled with one out, went to second on Gavin Hedstrom’s sacrifice and scored on Trent Garrison’s single to left to give FSU a 1-0 lead.
The Aggies wasted little time tying the game at 1 in the top of the third, when Justin Lucero led off with a triple to left-center and scored on Richard Stout’s sacrifice fly to left.
The Bulldogs broke the deadlock in the sixth on a two-run double by Wise to make it 3-1.
The Aggies tied it in the seventh. With runners at first and second, Stout singled to short, but the shortstop’s throw to second for a force attempt was wild, allowing one run to score and the runner from first to take third. with runners at the corners, the runner at third scored on the first baseman’s fielding error to tie the game at 3.
