Honolulu firefighters extinguished a 10-acre wildfire today above Weed Circle near Haleiwa.
Fire Capt. Terry Seelig said the fire was reported about 11:25 a.m. and that firefighters contained it within an hour. The blaze was in a gulch and fed on dry brush and grass but was fully extinguished by about 4 p.m., Seelig said.
Twenty-four firefighters responded, using four engines, three tankers, a brush truck and the HFD helicopter to control the fire, Seelig said.
The cause is under investigation.
Seelig said a power line was down in the area, but it’s not known if the line caused the fire or was downed as a result of the blaze.
