Ikaika Anderson took the oath of office during a brief public ceremony today in the City Council chambers.

Anderson won a costly special election in April for the seat representing Kailua, Kaneohe and Waimanalo formerly held by his mentor, the late Barbara Marshall.
Anderson won with a commanding 49 percent of the vote, which easily topped his two closest competitors, former council member Steve Holmes and Tracy Nakano Bean.
