Kona man sought in ’08 assault case

Big Island police are asking for help in locating a Kona man wanted for various crimes stemming from an incident on Dec. 15 between 7 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in Kona.

The suspect, 31-year-old Benjamin Acasio III, is described as 6-foot-2, 180 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. His last known address was in Kailua, Kona.

On Dec. 15, an adult female reported that Acasio had grabbed her, choked her, sexually assaulted her and later threatened her with death.

Acasio is wanted for abuse, sexual assault and terroristic threatening. He is also wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Police ask that anyone with information on his whereabouts call the Police Department's nonemergency line at 808-935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call CrimeStoppers at 808-961-8300 in Hilo or 808-329-8181 in Kona. All CrimeStoppers information is kept confidential.
