James Campbell CEO retiring next year
Steve MacMillan, CEO, of the James Campbell Co. plans to retire next year, ending a nearly 30-year career with the major West Oçahu landowner that has given rise to the second city of Kapolei.
MacMillan, who was born and raised in Hawaiçi, has been with the company and its predecessor, the Estate of James Campbell, since 1981. He was named chief operating officer in 1992, and CEO in 2002.
MacMillans retirement will be effective July 28, 2010, the company announced today.
The chief executive also is chairman of the board, though a decision regarding that position will be made later.
MacMillan, who turns 60 next year, said his decision to retire involved much deliberation and was made to give him the freedom to pursue personal goals.
A search committee will seek a replacement expected to result in a smooth transition for the company with $2.6 billion in real estate assets in Hawaiçi and on the Mainland.
