Parker Ranch sells realty arm to Clark

Clark Realty Corp., the largest real estate company on the Big Island, said it is acquiring Parker Ranch Realty Inc.

Bill Maris, Parker Ranch's chief operating officer, said the sale of the company is part of the ranch's strategy to shed its noncore businesses, including its real estate brokerage. The deal is set to close Dec. 1.

Clark Realty has more than 130 agents, eight full-time property managers and 23 administrators and staff. Clark Realty will continue to operate six offices on the Big Island. Its Waimea office will move to the Parker Ranch Realty space at the Parker Ranch Center.

CALIFORNIA SOLAR SPECIALIST ADDS ISLE UNIT

A California company specializing in installing solar hot water and solar electric systems recently expanded to Hawaii.

Bonterra Hawaii LLC, which offers both residential and commercial systems, opened an office on Young Street in Honolulu.

"Hawaii has an ideal environment to harness and employ solar energy and its in our best interest to fully utilize this resource," said Andrew Yani, who formed the company in Los Angeles with partner Blair Herbert.

Two of Bonterra's four partners, Yani and Tom Noel, live in Hawaii.

Bonterra said it maintains a philanthropic division that donates one free residential solar hot water system to a charity or family in need for every 10 systems sold.

DHX OPENS FREIGHT FACILITY IN KAHULUI

DHX-Maui Inc., a sister company to freight forwarder DHX-Dependable Hawaiian Express, has opened a new freight-handling facility in Kahului.

The 41,000 square foot terminal will handle in-bound and out-bound freight from Maui and has 12 docks for loading.
