Man arrested after woman reports cane-knife threat

Advertiser Staff

A 37-year-old Ewa Beach man was arrested Tuesday after a woman told police he threatened to kill her while she was driving on the freeway last week.

The woman told police she was traveling east on the H-1 Freeway and was nearing the Waipahu off-ramp when the man, who was in the vehicle with her, abruptly grabbed the steering wheel, nearly causing a collision.

The woman told police that she has three children with him and is in the process of ending their 18-year common-law relationship.

The woman said that after the man grabbed the wheel, he pulled out a large cane knife and threatened to kill her.

After emotions subsided, she dropped the man off at a relative's home, the woman told police.

She left the area and called police, who foundd the man and arrested him on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening.
