Hanapa'a rallies for gold in World Senior softball

The Hanapa'a senior softball team rallied from an 11-0 deficit for a victory en route to a gold medal in the Huntsman World Senior Games in St. George, Utah, last month.
The team was composed of players 60 years and older from Kaua'i, O'ahu, Maui, Hilo and Kona and former Isle residents now living in Las Vegas.
After winning two of three in the preliminary round, Hanapa'a won its next four games.
It beat the Silver Eagles of Utah, 15-4; the Florence Felons from Arizona, 18-9; the Detroit Players, 18-13, and the Jeld-Wen of Oregon, 18-13, in the double-elimination round.
In the title game, Hanapa'a trailed Jeld-Wen, 11-0, after 2 1/2 innings before closing to 15-7 in the fifth. Hanapa'a won it with a five-run sixth and a four-run seventh. Fred Entilla hit a two-run double to tie it and Butch Tenn drove in Entilla with a long hit to left.
