NFL: Bears DT Harris apologizes

LAKE FOREST, Ill. — The Chicago Bears defense has big problems following a 41-21 blowout loss to the Arizona Cardinals and they start with defensive tackle Tommie Harris.
Harris was ejected on the fourth play of Sunday’s game after throwing a punch at Cardinals offensive lineman Deuce Lutui. Harris apologized Monday to teammates, Bears fans and to Lutui.
Harris, a three-time Pro Bowl player, could be suspended by the league.
The Bears are 4-4 headed into Thursday night’s game at San Francisco. Cornerback Charles Tillman, safety Al Afalava and safety Kevin Payne are nursing injuries, but even at full strength, the Bears defense is trying to bounce back from giving up more than 40 points in two of the last three games.
