Hawaii woman, thought to have flu, kicked off plane
A 50-year-old Hawaii woman returned to Honolulu yesterday, a day after she says she was booted from a United Airlines flight from Tampa, Fla., because the flight crew aboard the aircraft suspected she had the flu.
Mitra Mostoufi said she was humiliated when she was taken off the United flight on Monday morning. She told the Tampa Tribune that she doesn't "need to be treated like a disease."
Mostoufi said she doesn't have the flu. She said medication for restless leg syndrome made her feel nauseous, so she asked for an air sickness bag. After she made the request, a United Airlines employee told her to leave the aircraft.
A United spokesman said airline crews try to act in the best interest of all the travelers.
