Kauai murder tied to Mafia, police say

LIHUE, Hawaii — Kauai police are confirming a link between an organized crime family and a man found dead just after getting out of prison.
Forty-seven-year-old Daniel Bonanno was released from prison Nov. 8 and found murdered in a parked pickup truck the following morning. He had served five years on a theft charge.
Kauai police wouldn’t elaborate on the connection between Bonanno and an East Coast crime family.
Bonanno’s ex-wife, Marianne Trombley, says he threatened several people in recent years, and she believes his killing was probably arranged by someone he angered in one of the three prisons he was in during his confinement.
But she says Bonanno emerged from prison sober and ready to stay that way.
