Honolulu man fatally injured retrieving car keys from roof
Police are investigating the death of a 48-year-old Honolulu man who was fatally injured during a fall on Saturday.
Investigators were told that the man was standing on the ground in front of the apartment building where he lived when he attempted to throw his car keys to his son who was on the third floor.
The keys wound up on the roof of the apartment building and the man fell while trying to retrieve them, resulting in a substantial head injury, police were told.
The man was taken to an area hospital in critical condition and admitted to the intensive care unit where he was pronounced dead about 10:30 p.m. last night, police said.
They have classified the case as an unattended death and said no foul play is suspected.
