Arizona coach Ken Whisenhunt says he had a long talk with Kurt Warner on the flight home, and the quarterback was "very upbeat and alert" following a blow to the head in Sunday's victory over St. Louis.

Still, Warner's availability to practice this week or play Sunday at Tennessee will depend on how he does in the mandatory "baseline test" of his cognitive functions. Whisenhunt says the test probably will be administered today.

Warner, 38, made his 41st consecutive start Sunday as the Cardinals beat the Rams, 21-13, to open a three-game lead in the NFC West.

"We talked about the game. We talked about this week's opponent, potential plays. He seemed very upbeat and alert, so that was a good sign," Whisenhunt said.

Warner's head slammed into the turf on a hit from Rams safety O.J. Atogwe in the second quarter. He stayed in the game to complete the touchdown drive that put Arizona up 21-3, then left for good.

Matt Leinart completed 10 of 14 for 74 yards in relief.

LIONS

QB, RECEIVER MIGHT BE OUT

Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford and receiver Calvin Johnson were both injured on a play as time expired Sunday against Cleveland, and Lions coach Jim Schwartz didn't sound optimistic that either would be available to face Green Bay on Thanksgiving Day.

Stafford suffered a dislocated left shoulder when he was hit as he threw a desperation pass into the end zone. The pass was intercepted, but Cleveland was called for pass interference. After a timeout, Stafford returned to the game to throw his fifth touchdown pass, but that didn't do anything to heal the injury.

Schwartz said: "There doesn't appear to be any long-term structural damage, but there's a lot of pain. If that continues, he'd be unlikely to play on Thursday, but we're not closing the door on anything yet."

Johnson was hurt on the same play and wasn't on the field for Stafford's game-winning touchdown pass to Brandon Pettigrew. Johnson was listed on yesterday's injury report as having not practiced because of hand and knee problems.

ELSEWHERE

Rams: St. Louis quarterback Marc Bulger will be sidelined three to six weeks because of a fractured left leg sustained in Sunday's loss to Arizona. The team said it would not place Bulger on injured reserve. Kyle Boller will make his third start of the year at quarterback Sunday against Seattle.

Packers: Cornerback Al Harris and linebacker Aaron Kampman will have knee surgery after suffering major injuries Sunday in a victory over San Francisco. They were hurt on separate plays in the second half.
