Charlotte Lagarde’s portrait of surf legend Rell Sunn kicks off the University of Hawai'i’s Women of the World Cinema series tomorrow.
Sunn was a founding member of the Women’s Professional Surfing Association, as well as a community leader. When she discovered she had breast cancer at the age of 32, she continued to surf and promote awareness about breast cancer until her death.
“Heart of the Sea: The Rell Sunn Story” will be shown at 5 p.m. in UH-Mänoa’s Spalding Auditorium. Admission is $5. For more information, call 223-0130.
