CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Carolina Panthers linebacker Jon Beason has been arrested on a misdemeanor assault charge stemming from an incident at a strip club.
The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office said Beason was arrested Monday afternoon and released on a written note to appear in court.
Details weren’t immediately available, but police had been investigating an incident said to have involved Beason on Nov. 15.
General manager Marty Hurney said in a statement that, “At this time there appears to be two different versions of what happened.”
Beason’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, didn’t immediately return a phone message seeking comment.
The arrest comes a day after Beason recorded a career-high 17 tackles in Carolina’s 17-6 loss to the New York Jets.
