RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Hawaii, which operates programs to assist seriously ill children and their families, has chosen RICHARD RAND as chairman of the board. He is a partner at the law firm Marr, Jones & Wang.
Also named to the board were: first vice chair DOREEN GRIFFITH, managing partner at Grant Thornton; second vice chair BETH LUM, owner of Creative Fundraising Associates; secretary WADE NAKASHIMA, manager of supply and distribution at Tesoro Hawaii Corp.; and treasurer SARA ISONAGA, CFO at The Myers Corporation. BRIAN TAKEDA rotated out as chairman after completing his two-year term.
Others on the 2009 board are:
FRANKIE CHUNG, DR. ROBERT DURKIN, PATRICK LIM, DENNIS PANG, DONNA REBELLIA-ABREU and BRUCE YANAGIHARA.
AMERICAN COLLEGE OF TRUST AND ESTATE COUNSEL
Carlsmith Ball recently announced that MARY JANE CONNELL, a partner and member of the firm's tax, estate planning and wealth management practice group, has been appointed a regent for the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, a national organization of lawyers. Election to the college is based on the highest level of integrity, commitment to the profession, competence and experience as a trust and estate counselor. Connell is the third Hawai'i attorney to serve on the board of regents in ACTEC's 60 year history.
HAWAI'I ASSOCIATION OF HEALTH PLANS
HOWARD LEE, executive vice president and chief operating officer of UHA (University Health Alliance), has been elected president of the Hawai'i Association of Health Plans. Lee succeeds RICK JACKSON of MDX Hawai'i, who has served as HAHP president since 2002. Other recently elected HAHP officers include vice president PAULA ARCENA; secretary JENNIFER DIESMAN; and treasurer LAURIE JIM.
