State lawmakers and community members will gather at the State Capitol today to discuss issues that affect the well-being of youth in Hawai'i.
The 2009 Children and Youth Summit will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It is sponsored by the Legislature's Keiki Caucus, a group of legislators with special concern for issues related to children and youth.
Participants will discuss such issues as economic development, education, the environment, and health and human services, a news release from the Legislature said.
The theme of this year's summit is "Imagine the Possibilities."
People are invited to attend. There is no charge. For more information, call 586-6130.
Following the summit, a reception will be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Washington Place. Summit participants can meet planners for the 2010 World Youth Congress in Turkey.
