NFL: Seahawks CB Lucas home following father’s death; will play

Associated Press

RENTON, Wash. — Seattle Seahawks defensive back Ken Lucas is home in Mississippi to bury his father but will play on Sunday against Arizona.

Coach Jim Mora said Wednesday that there are more important things in life than football for his starting cornerback and that he understandably “needs some time.” So the ninth-year veteran will remain home through Friday’s burial.
Lucas started last weekend’s win over Jacksonville less than 48 hours after he found out his father, Clyde, had died unexpectedly.
According to the players’ union, Lucas’ father had overcome lung cancer. He was diagnosed with the disease in 2002, during his son’s second season with Seattle.
