An 18-year-old Nanakuli man was arrested yesterday afternoon for allegedly slapping his girlfriend and assaulting his father and uncle when they tried to intervene.
Police were told the 18-year-old man was arguing with his girlfriend, 18, about 2:45 p.m. when he struck her several times with his open had.
The father, 41, stepped in to try to stop his son from assaulting the girlfriend only to be struck by his son, police were told.
The younger man’s uncle arrived home during the scuffle and tried to break it up, at which point his nephew tried to hit him with a sledge hammer but missed, police said.
The nephew then picked up a tire iron and threw it at his uncle, 39, hitting him in the back, police said.
Officers were called to the scene and arrested the suspect without incident on suspicion of two counts of second-degree assault and a single count of abuse of a family or household member.
The father, girlfriend and uncle were slightly injured during the fracas, police said.
