NBA: Wolves acquire project Jawai in trade with Mavs

MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Timberwolves have acquired forward Nathan Jawai from the Dallas Mavericks.
The Timberwolves also received cash from the Mavericks for a conditional second-round draft pick in 2012. The deal was announced Tuesday.
The 6-foot-10 Jawai is a native of Australia who was drafted by the Indiana Pacers in the second round last year. He was subsequently sent to the Toronto Raptors as part of the Jermaine O’Neal trade, appearing in just six games.
The conditional draft pick is protected through the 55th overall slot.
President of basketball operations David Kahn says the team was considering the Jawai trade before power forward Kevin Love broke his hand.
