Running: Kirwa leads Kenyan sweep in Frankfurt Marathon

FRANKFURT — Gilbert Kirwa has shattered the course record in leading a Kenyan sweep of the top four places at the Frankfurt Marathon.
The 23-year-old Kirwa has now won his first two marathons, having also captured the Vienna race in April.
He finished in 2 hours, 6 minutes, 14 seconds on Sunday to beat Robert Kiprono Cheruiyot's 2008 course record by 1:07. Cheruiyot finished second in 2:06:23, William Kiplagat was third in 2:07:05 and Elias Kemboi took fourth in 2:08:15.
Agnes Kiprop of Kenya won the women's race in 2:26:57 ahead of compatriot Hellen Kimutai in 2.27:50, with Karolina Jarzynska of Poland third in 2.29:10.
