Obama film to be shown at Shell

The documentary "By the People: The Election of Barack Obama," will be screened Thursday at the Waikíkí Shell.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with live entertainment from Willie K at 6 p.m. The screening begins at 7 p.m.
Hawaii figures in the documentary include the president's sister Maya Soetoro-Ng and her husband, Konrad Ng; Congressman Neil Abercrombie; Obama's longtime friend Bobby Titcomb; and members of the Punahou faculty. Obama is a Punahou alumnus.
"By the People" also includes an audio-only interview with Obama's maternal grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, and footage shot in the Islands, said the filmmakers.
Free lawn seating is open to the general public; no RSVP is required. All guests are asked to bring a canned food donation to benefit the Hawaii Foodbank.
The film was produced by actor Edward Norton, according to the Internet Movie Database, via production company Class 5 Films. HBO plans to air the documentary in November, according to HBO.com. Alicia Sams and Amy Rice directed the film.
