Advertiser Staff

A 46-year-old man and 25-year-old woman, both of whom have no local addresses, were arrested in Kahala yesterday after allegedly taking bags belonging to two woman who were participating in a tai chi class.

Police were told the man grabbed the two bags from the ground and ran to a waiting van that was being driven by a woman.
A passer-by saw what was happening and pursued the van until it pulled over on Kahala Avenue where the two occupants jumped out and walked away, police said.
They said the passer-by flagged down a police officer who then stopped the two suspects in the area fronting 4481 Kahala Ave.
The two tai chi students were then brought to the area and identified the man as one who took their bags, police said.
The man and woman were arrested without incident on suspicion of second-degree theft.
