Car falls 40 feet into ravine, killing 21-year-old driver
A 21-year-old Kaläheo, Kauai, man was found dead yesterday morning after a car plunged 40 feet into a ravine in mao.
A Kauai County news release said Preston Ramson was traveling west on Kaumualii Highway when the car he was driving left the road, clipped a utility pole and the end of mao Bridge and plunged into the ravine.
The vehicle was discovered by patrol officers at 1:37 a.m. yesterday.
Both lanes of Kaumualii Highway were closed after the crash, and traffic was re-routed until about 7:50 am.
Police said speeding and alcohol may have been factors in the accident.
It was the eighth traffic fatality on Kauai this year.
