Punahou, Kamehameha win state cross country titles

PUHI, Kaua'i — The Punahou girls and Kamehameha boys won the team titles at this morning's Honolulu Marathon/Hawai'i High School Athletic Association Cross Country Championships at Island School.
Punahou, led by Elli Brady's first-place finish in the 3-mile race, won its fifth straight state title with a meet-low 62 points. Mililani was second with 70.
Brady finished in 18 minutes, 53.85 seconds. Seabury Hall's Hailey Grossman was second in 19:07.95 and Mililani's Gabriella Jenkins was third in 19:21.05.
In the boys race, Kamehameha scored 56 points to win. Punahou was second with 85.
Leilehua's Margarito Martinez won the boys 3-mile race in 15:50.05. Island School's Pierce Murphy was second in 16:18.35 and Kamehameha's Jordan Thibodeau was third in 16:44.95.
