SYDNEY — The next time Milwaukee Bucks center Andrew Bogut suits up for his native Australia in a basketball international, he’ll have a Chinese company’s name or logo emblazoned on his jersey.

Basketball Australia on Tuesday announced a four-year deal with Chinese investment company Golden Star, which will become the Boomers’ naming rights sponsor.
The sport’s national governing body said that Golden Star International Investment Pty. Ltd., was established in 1995 and has since focused on sports exchange and cooperation between China and Australia.
“The fact that a successful international company like Golden Star has signed on to a long-term partnership is recognition that basketball in Australia has turned the corner,” said Basketball Australia chief executive Larry Sengstock, a former Boomers player, said in a statement.
Basketball Australia said it would withhold financial details of the agreement, but it was described in the statement as “generous.”
It’s a slight departure from the norm for a mainstream sport in Australia, where national teams tend to have naming rights sponsors from major domestic companies or multinationals.
