PacWest honor for UH-Hilo's Seben

Hawai'i Hilo middle hitter Fabiane Seben yesterday was named this season's first Pacific West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week.

Seben, a senior from Caxias do Sul, Brazil, led the Vulcans to a 3-0 week, with 38 kills, six aces, two block solos and 11 block assists.

Seben ranks second in the conference in hitting percentage (.409), third in blocks per game (1.18) and fifth in kills per game (3.45).

GOLF

IGAWA TO MID-AM

Hilo's Chris Igawa shot an even-par 72 at Makaha Resorts Golf Club to earn a spot in the USGA Mid-Amateur Championship.

The tournament is Oct. 3 to 8 at Kiawah Island Club in Kiawah Island, S.C.

Mark Scheibach of Bermuda Dunes, Calif., and David Long of Kane'ohe tied for second with 75s. Scheibach won on the second playoff hole, and will be first alternate.

'FAMILY PACK' OFFERED

The University of Hawai'i is offering "family pack" and group discounts for all home contests for women's volleyball and football this season.

In UH's "Family Pack" promotion, fans, with the purchase of two adult tickets, can receive a free student ticket (ages 4 to high school) with every student ticket purchased (maximum of 12 tickets total).

"Family Pack" tickets for football are available in the north end zone of Aloha Stadium and can be purchased at the Stan Sheriff Center box office in advance and the Aloha Stadium box office in advance or on game day.

For women's volleyball, "Family Pack" tickets are available in the upper level and can be purchased in advance or on match night at the Stan Sheriff Center.

In UH's group discount plan, any group of 20 or more will receive significant savings on tickets to football and volleyball events.

FOR ALUMNI, MILITARY

The University of Hawai'i will be offering discounts for its alumni and military for select football and volleyball events this season.

UH Alumni Association members and active, reservists and retired members of the military will receive 50 percent off adult tickets (maximum of eight) for contests listed below.

A valid Alumni Association membership card is required when purchasing tickets at the Stan Sheriff Center (football, volleyball) or the Aloha Stadium box office (football). A valid military identification card is required when purchasing tickets at the Stan Sheriff Center (football, volleyball) or the Aloha Stadium Box Office (football).
