3 injured in two-car crash on Kamehameha Highway
A man was critically injured and two other people hurt yesterday morning in a head-on crash on Kamehameha Highway near Hale'iwa.
Police said a 1997 Acura sedan was traveling north on Kamehameha Highway when it crossed the center line and collided with a 2008 Honda sedan.
The accident was reported at 7:28 a.m. It happened 2.5 miles north of Pa'ala'a Uka Pupukea Road.
The driver of the Acura, a 30-year-old man, was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition, police said.
A 16-year-old girl who was a passenger in the Acura was taken to Queen's in good condition.
The driver of the Honda, a 35-year-old Hale'iwa man, was taken to Queen's in serious condition, police said.
Police closed Kamehameha Highway between Helemano Military Reservation and the Joseph P. Leong bypass to conduct an investigation. The highway was reopened at noon.
