NFL: Rams place Carriker on IR

ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Rams have placed defensive tackle Adam Carriker on injured reserve with a shoulder injury from the preseason finale.
Carriker was a first-round draft pick out of Nebraska in 2007.
His move was among several that left the team with 54 players — one over the limit it had to reach by Saturday afternoon.
The Rams waived running backs Antonio Pittman and Chris Ogbonnaya, and guard Roy Schuening.
Rookie Keith Null won the third-string quarterback job over Brock Berlin, who was waived.
St. Louis also waived LBs K.C. Asiodu and Dominic Douglas, DT Antwon Burton, TE Eric Butler, DE Ian Campbell, OTs Renardo Foster and Phil Trautwein, FB Jerome Johnson, C Tim Mattran, CB Cord Parks, S Mark Rubin and WR Sean Walker.
S Todd Johnson and WRs Tim Carter and Ronald Curry had their contracts terminated.
