MLB: Man found beaten inside remnants of Tiger Stadium
Associated Press
DETROIT — Police say a man was found badly beaten inside the remnants of Detroit's Tiger Stadium.
Police spokesman John Roach tells The Associated Press the man in his 40s was in critical condition at a hospital after being found about 1 p.m. Saturday by a security guard. He says police hadn't been able to interview him.
The beating was reported by the Web site of the Detroit Free Press.
Only a small section of the historic ballpark remains standing along Michigan Avenue, alongside piles of rubble and demolition equipment.
The Tigers departed for Comerica Park after the 1999 season.
Much of the ballpark was torn down last year, but a section was left standing while preservation advocates sought funds to save it. Demolition resumed in June with a judge's permission.
