University of Hawaii receiver Greg Salas was named Western Athletic Conference offensive player of the week, the conference office announced today.

Salas, a junior from Chino, Calif. caught a career-high seven passes for 180 yards and a touchdown in the Warriors' season-opening 25-20 victory over Central Arkansas Friday.
After Central Arkansas had gone up 14-2, Salas scored on a four-yard reception to cut the lead to 14-9 at halftime.
With UH trailing 20-19 in the final minutes, Salas caught a Greg Alexander pass and weaved for 66 yards to the Bears’ 8-yard-line to set up the winning touchdown.
Fresno State linebacker Nico Herron was named defensive player of the week and Idaho punter Bobby Cowan was the top special teams performer.
UH nominated linebacker R.J. Kiesel-Kauhane for defensive honors.
