The University of Hawaii-Manoa said today that it has enrolled nearly 400 more students this fall semester than last.
The school said it is the largest increase in six years.
This fall semester, 20,360 students are enrolled at UH-Manoa, compared to 19,957 in fall of 2008.
The enrollment includes more Hawaii residents and fewer non-residents than last year. Also, more applications were received from freshmen and transfer students.
The campus also enrolled more transfer students than last year.
"This year we were able to provide improved on-campus housing and additional financial aid to our students,” Manoa Chancellor Virginia Hinshaw said in a news release.
“We’re excited that more of Hawaii’s young people are realizing what a great investment a degree from UH Manoa offers for their future lives and careers.”
