A water system on Oçahu and a wastewater system on Kauaçi have been selected to receive $1.7 million in loans and grants under the federal investment program aimed at helping revive the national economy.
Na Kupaa O Kuhio-Kakaina, a water system in Waimänalo, and Na Kupaa O Kuhio-Piilani, a wastewater system in Anahola, were among projects in 27 states selected to receive $176 million through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for providing safe drinking water and improving wastewater treatment in rural communities.
Funding is contingent upon recipients meeting terms of the loan or grant agreement, which is being administered by the U.S. Department of Agricultures Rural Development division.
