INDIANAPOLIS — Peyton Manning hooked up with Reggie Wayne for one touchdown, Joseph Addai ran for another, and the Colts’ defense made two fourth-quarter stops to preserve a 14-12 victory over Jacksonville on Sunday.
Manning, the three-time MVP, was 28 of 38 for 301 yards. He tied John Unitas’ franchise record for victories with 118.
Wayne caught 10 passes for 162 yards, including a 35-yard TD.
But the Colts’ revamped defense was the difference. It stuffed Maurice Jones-Drew on a potentially tying 2-point conversion with 11:07 to go, after his 7-yard TD run. And Indy snuffed out Jacksonville’s final chance by forcing a four-and-out with 1:15 remaining.
